Giramondo Press invites poetry lovers to the launch of John Mateer’s new collection, Southern Barbarians. Mateer is an internationally recognised poet and this is his seventh book. Himself an inveterate traveller, Southern Barbarians offers a contemporary re-charting of the Portuguese Empire, the hemisphere of influence which ties Portugal to Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Australia, Timor, Malacca, Macau and Japan.
